Man Clinging to Life After Being Shot in the Head Overnight

At approximately 21:41 hours Boston Police Officers from District A-7 responded to the area of Lombardi Park at the Corner of London Street and Cunard Way in East Boston for the reports of shots fired. The area had recently become a hotspot of loud late night parties, large violent fights and gang activity according to a number of neighbors that we spoke to.

While en route the call was updated to a person shot and Boston EMS was added. First arriving officers located an adult male suffering from an apparent gun shot wound to the head laying inside of the park. EMS quickly arrived on scene and began to treat the man.

While attempting to save the man’s life and secure the scene, Police encountered a large group of onlookers and partiers who quickly became confrontational, combative and aggressive towards the units on scene. A call for help from officers in the park resulted in the activation of EDTs from Boston Police Districts A-1, A-15, D-4 and C-6. Additionally, outside agencies including The Massachusetts State Police H-9 Tunnels, F Troop Logan, Gang Unit as well as surrounding towns such as Chelsea responded to aid the officers in need.

After pushing the large, volatile group back, EMS was able to transport the man to Massachusetts General Hospital, with serious, life-threatening-injuries. As of this morning, the latest update was that the man was still alive.

Due to the serious nature of the man’s injuries full notifications were made with A-7 Detectives, the Homicide Unit, Crime Scene Response Unit and the District Attorney’s Office all responding to the scene.

While assisting with searching of the scene, Troopers located what appeared to be a ballistic sound suppressor, more commonly referred to as a “silencer” inside the vicinity of the shootout. Additionally a large amount of spent shell casings were located and vehicle with clear ballistic damage. A pool of blood could also be seen in the middle of the park where the victim was located.

At this time no arrests have been made, and no suspect information is yet available to the public.
