OP Foot Chase Leads to Double Arrest and Gun Recovery

At about 9:40 PM on Friday, September, 25, 2020, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) made two onsite arrests and recovered a loaded firearm in the area of Hampden Street in Roxbury. While on patrol, officers observed a motorized scooter carrying two individuals traveling on Dudley Street. Officers noticed that neither party was wearing a safety helmet. As officers continued on Dudley Street, they observed the scooter fail to stop at multiple red lights as it proceeded to the area of Kemble Street where it made an abrupt stop.

Officers pulled up next to the scooter in an attempt to speak with the operator and passenger. Officers observed one of the males reach into the seat compartment. Officers exited their cruiser to engage with the males who suddenly fled on the scooter, driving in the wrong direction on Kemble Street towards Reading Street. Officers returned to their cruiser where they lost sight of the scooter.

Officers happened upon the scooter which had crashed into an individual on the sidewalk on Reading Street. The individual who was struck by the scooter fled the area on a bicycle as officers continued to search for the males. Officers observed the males fleeing on foot. Officers heard the sound of a metallic object hitting the ground and one of the officers gave chase.

Additional officers arrived on scene to assist and in front of the scooter, they recovered a pink and silver Cobra 380 Auto loaded with seven rounds of live ammunition. Officers pursued the suspects on foot to the area of Hampden Street where both were apprehended.

Officers arrested Terrance Porter, 18-years-old, of the South End and Cristianr Rivera, 21-years-old, of Brockton. Both males are expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition. The operator, Porter, is additionally charged with Failure to Stop for a Police Officer and Unlicensed Operation.
