Boston Police B-2 Take Another Gun Off the Street Overnight

At about 3:17 AM on Sunday, November 29, 2020, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) made an onsite arrest and recovered a loaded firearm in the area of Blue Hill Avenue and Devon Street in Dorchester. While on patrol in the area of Blue Hill Avenue and Geneva Avenue, officers observed a gray Honda Accord operating at a speed greater than reasonable.

The officer followed the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop at the intersection of Blue Hill Avenue and Devon Street. Officers approached the vehicle and spoke to the operator Joseph Guzman, 22-years-old, of South Boston. The operator acknowledged he was speeding and provided officers with the means to identify him by way of his social security number. A query of the operator led officers to the discovery that his license had been suspended. The operator was removed from the vehicle and within his waistband, officers recovered a Pietro Beretta firearm loaded with seven rounds of live ammunition.

The suspect was taken into custody. Guzman is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License.
