Neighbor Caught in Crossfire as Ormond Street Turns to Shooting Gallery Overnight

Yesterday evening, around 21:30 hours, B-3 units radioed that they heard numerous shots fired in the direct area of the streets around the station. Eventually the ShotSpotter came in for the area of Ormond Street and Goodale Road. Officers immediately raced to the area, looking for victims and a scene.

Officers received two important updates called in: there was a victim located near the top of Ormond Street, and the shooters were possibly fleeing the area in a black SUV. Boston EMS raced to the scene, and Officers started their search. An adult male victim was located, shot at least once in a car that was riddled with ballistic damage. Thanks to the quick actions of officers and Boston EMS, the man is expected to survive with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers located and followed the SUV, which ended up attempting to flee at a high rate of speed. It eventually crashed and all of the occupants were taken into custody successfully.

Officers established the crime scene nearly two blocks long after the victim was transported. Over 50 crime scene markers were placed on the ground with some estimating approximately 45 rounds fired. In addition to numerous shell casings and projectiles, at least 6 vehicles were heavily damaged with ballistics, and a number of homes had bullets fly through their windows.

Detectives spent hours processing the ballistic evidence and photographing the extensive scene. At this time Boston Police were unwilling to confirm any arrests or details of the incident, citing that the investigation is still ongoing.
