Engine Failure Causes Castle Island Boat Rescue

At approximately 01:30 hours on Saturday August 28th, The Boston Police Harbor Unit began receiving calls for a boat having major mechanical issues during a time of rough seas and high wind, causing the vessel to repeatedly smash in to the rocks off of Castle Island.

It appears the boats engine had failed. Witnesses began fearing the vessel would sink from the damage from the rocks. The BPD Harbor Unit responded and completed a difficult technical rescue. Both having to control the boat as well as rescue the men on board.

Boston EMS met the officers at the police dock and evaluated everyone. Luckily, the boaters only suffered from bumps and bruises. They were patched up at the dock and then released back by the EMTs.

No charges are expected, and everyone appeared very happy to be on dry land.
