Gang Unit Arrest Repeat Offender on Firearms Charges Downtown Last Month

At about 1:30 PM, on Thursday, December 16, 2021, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force, conducted a firearm investigation in the area of Somerset Street and Cambridge Street in Boston, resulting in the arrest of Dequan Martin, 28, of Providence, Rhode Island.

Officers conducted a traffic stop of Martin’s motor vehicle and as a result of that traffic stop officers recovered a loaded firearm. The firearm was found to be a loaded 9mm Sig Sauer P365 with one round in the chamber and fourteen rounds in the high-capacity magazine. After further investigation it was revealed that the firearm had been reported stolen out of Salem, Massachusetts in 2019.

Dequan Martin was arrested and charged with, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (2nd offense), Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm and Receiving Stolen Property Under $1200. He is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court.
