Elderly Woman Trapped Under MBTA Train in East Boston Quickly Extracted

At approximately 06:00 hours yesterday morning, Wednesday March 16, 2022, Transit Police responded along with members of the Boston Fire Department and Boston EMS to Maverick MBTA Station in East Boston for reports of a female underneath a train.

The elderly woman was quickly located underneath the blue line train eastbound. The woman, who has mobility issues, was quickly extricated by the Boston Fire Department Technical Rescue Team and transported by Boston EMS.

She was said to have sustained relatively minor injuries, considering the mechanism of trauma. She was conscious and alert, easily talking to the rescue team and could be seen waving while being loaded into the ambulance.

The operator of the train was also transported from the scene for an evaluation. Serious delays in MBTA service were caused by this incident, and it is currently under investigation by Transit Police.
