Occupants in Stuck Elevator Uninjured After Complex Extraction

On Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at approximately 16:30 hours members of the Boston Fire Department, along with Boston EMS and Boston Police responded to the 200 block of Commonwealth Avenue for reports of several people trapped in an elevator.

It appears an old cage (also called birdcage) style elevator had become stuck during operation. The complex extrication undertaken by the responders and members of the Technical Rescue Squad lasted nearly an hour. Luckily, no one rescued from the elevator was injured. No further information regarding this incident is available at this time.

This incident highlights the amazing things achieved when Boston’s first responders come together, even when facing difficult situations.
