Bouncer at the ‘Sons of Boston’ Bar Stabs Illinois Man to Death Saturday Evening

At about 6:53 PM on Saturday, March 19, 2022, officers assigned to District A-1 (Downtown) responded to a call for a person stabbed on Union Street in Downtown Boston. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim, Identified as Daniel Martinez, 23, of Illinois, suffering from a stab wound.

The victim, suffering life-threatening injuries, was transported to a local area hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Martinez was a former Marine who recently exited the service, according to Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin R. Hayden.

Detectives assigned to the Boston Police Homicide Unit conducted an investigation which resulted in the identification of Alvaro Larrama, 38, of East Boston as the suspect wanted in connection to this incident. On Monday, March 21, 2022, Alvaro Larrama surrendered himself to Boston Police at District A-15 and was taken into custody without incident.

Larrama, who was employed as a bouncer at Sons of Boston, was arraigned Monday afternoon in Boston Municipal Court. Prosecutors said during the hearing that investigators found video from multiple surveillance cameras that show the stabbing and the moments after, including when the suspect went back into Sons of Boston to wash his hands, get new clothes and exit through a rear door.
