BREAKING: 19 People Displaced After Overnight Blaze in Eastie

At approximately 00:30 hours on Tuesday March 29th, Boston Firefighters responded to Box 6174, 366 Meridian Street in East Boston. Companies on arrival found heavy smoke and fire on the rear porches. Crews immediately began working in frigid temperatures to put out the blaze.

The fire was contained on the 2nd & 3rd floors however between smoke and water damage the entire building was deemed compromised after the fire was knocked down. At this time Boston EMS and Fire have confirmed no injuries or fatalities. A total of 19 residents were displaced, but thanks to the Red Cross of MA they will all have a warm bed to sleep in tonight.

At this time no further information is available and the cause of the fire is still under investigation by BFD-FIU.Â
