At about 8:57 pm on February 28, 2022, Officers assigned to District B3 (Mattapan/Dorchester) made an onsite firearm arrest of Reginald Bly, 28, of Dorchester, and Juraeh Garcia, 23 of Dorchester, on Assault and Battery charges.
Officers responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident at 564 Cummins Highway. On arrival, officers observed a vehicle resting on the sidewalk, with a tree down in front of the vehicle. A witness on scene directed Officers’ attention to the fact that the operator of the vehicle, identified as Bly, had dropped a firearm when exiting the vehicle. Officers observed the firearm on the ground outside the vehicle and placed Bly into custody without further incident.

As Officers were conducting their investigation, Garcia approached the scene, began yelling at Officers, and continuously interfered with the Officers attempting to process the scene for evidence. Garcia was directed multiple times to leave the area, but refused, eventually pushing an Officer on scene as she further attempted to interfere with the investigation. Ms. Garcia was subsequently placed into custody without further incident.
The firearm was determined to be a Smith and Wesson M&P 9mm with a high-capacity magazine loaded with 12 live rounds in the magazine.

Reginald Bly is to be charged with Unlicensed Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Ammunition Without FID Card, Unlicensed Possession of a Loaded Firearm, Possession of a Firearm Without FID Card, Possession of Large Capacity Feeding Device, and Possession of Large Capacity Firearm.
Juraeh Garcia is to be charged with Assault and Battery on a Police Officer.
Bly and Garcia are both expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
