BREAKING: Officer Involved Shooting Outside of Shattuck Hospital Overnight, Suspect Shot at Police Who Returned Fire Striking Him Multiple Times

Shortly after midnight, Boston Police Officer from District B-3 attempted to stop a vehicle in the area of Stash’s on Blue Hill Ave. The vehicle refused to stop for police and instead took off from officers at a high rate of speed. Officers pursued the vehicle for a short distance before they were instructed to call off the chase.

They stopped chasing the vehicle, however the suspect continued their erratic driving and crash in front of the Shattuck Hospital. When Officers approached the vehicle the suspect took off running, holding what appeared to be a firearm in his waistband. At some point during this initial contact, the suspect fired at officers however it is unclear if the officers returned fire.

The suspect did manage to get away and Officers from across the city converged on the park with citywide EDTs and State Police assets including the Airwing were dispatched to assist. A perimeter was set, covering multiple blocks surrounding the area and K-9s and gun-cars (tactical patrol SWAT Officers) began to canvas the area for the suspect. At one point officers detained a subject however they quickly realized it was not the suspect but a hospital worker and quickly released them. It was a few minutes later officers spotted the suspect in the wooded area next to the hospitals smoke stack they attempted to take him into custody.

The suspect instead opened fire, and numerous police officers returned fire striking the suspect multiple times. Boston EMS who was staging near the search quickly arrived on scene and began to render care to the man. He was eventually transported to a local area hospital with critical life threatening injuries.

Multiple Boston Police Officers also were transported to local area hospitals for evaluation and one officer was taken for minor injuries. At this time no further information is available. You can listen to the full radio audio below;
