Shortly before midnight on April 1st, Boston Police Officers assigned to District B-2 attempted to stop a vehicle in the area of Columbia Road and Interval Street in Dorchester. The vehicle failed to stop for Officers and took off at a high rate of speed and in an erratic manner. Units pursued the vehicle for a short distance until the occupants ditched the car and fled on foot.
The passenger of the vehicle was quickly apprehended and the driver was identified and is expected to be taken into custody at a later date. While in the area shots were fired leading officers to take cover and call out for assistance over the radio.
The area was flooded with officers but the source of the gun fire was never located, instead officers only found spent shell casings. K-9 assets and additional units were called to the scene and it was secured. District Detectives processed and photographed the ballistic evidence which were located at 23 Normandy Street.
At this time no further information is available and Boston Police would not confirmed any information or if the shooting was related to the car chase however it doesn’t take a genius to connect the dots. This is the second time in less than a week Boston Police Officers were the target of gunfire following a car chase.
