Suspect in Custody After BPD Officers Recover Loaded Firearm During Traffic Stop in Roxbury

At about 1:00 AM on Friday March 4, 2022, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested Amari Morgan, 21, of Boston, on firearm related charges following a traffic stop in the area of Dudley Street and Vine Street in Roxbury.

After officers had stopped a motor vehicle for a traffic infraction when they observed the operator, later identified as the suspect, reach for an unknown object which he quickly concealed and pinned against the side of his body as they approached.

As the officers were conducting their investigation, they instructed the operator to exit the vehicle and attempted to remove him, leading to a violent struggle. Officers were able to place the suspect in custody with assistance from additional responding units at which time they were able to safely recover a loaded 9mm Taurus G2C handgun equipped with a large capacity feeding device from the suspect.

The suspect will appear in Roxbury District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm, Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device and Resisting Arrest.
