On Saturday, April 2, 2022 at approximately 02:10 hours officers from District B2 responded to Dudley Street at Langdon Street after a single round ShotSpotter activation came in to Operations, indicating one shot originating from that area.

Upon arrival, Officers discovered a large outdoor fire, with flames extending to a nearby three-story wood framed residential building. Companies from the Boston Fire Department responded to the scene, calling a first alarm, and expertly extinguishing the blaze within fifteen minutes.

It was soon determined that a propane tank located in the yard had likely exploded, which then triggered the ShotSpotter activation, and untimely caused Boston Police officers to discover the fire before the home had become fully engulfed in flames.
At this time, the incident is being considered accidental.
