At about 4:45 AM on Sunday March 13, 2022, officers assigned to District A-1 (Downtown) were on patrol when they observed four males pushing and shoving one another while arguing in the area of Essex Street and Edinboro Street in Boston. As the officers approached the individuals, they observed that one of the males, later identified as Hakeem Summer-Hayes, 22, of Allston, appeared to be holding a firearm in his right hand.

Upon seeing the officers, the suspect placed the firearm into his jacket pocket and attempted to flee on foot. The suspect was then placed in custody without further incident. The other parties involved were identified on scene and released.

The suspect will appear in Boston Municipal Court on charges of Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm and Possession of a Firearm with an Altered Serial Number.
