Officers Assigned to District C-11 Make arrest following a Call for a Person with a Gun

At About 9:48 AM on Friday, 03/11/22, Officers from District C-11 responded to a radio call for a person with a gun at the intersection of Bowdoin Street and Norton Street, Dorchester, and made an on-site arrest of Andrew Bender, 31, of Boston.

Officers responded to a call for a male, later identified as Bender, who was observed with a firearm in the area of the above location. Upon arrival, officers observed a male matching the description provided, and as they approached, Bender fled on foot, dropping a firearm as he ran. Following a brief struggle with Officers, the suspect was placed into custody without further incident. A CJIS inquiry Bender revealed five (5) additional outstanding warrants for various offenses.

The firearm was determined to be a Taurus. 45 caliber firearm loaded with one (1) round in the chamber and six (6) rounds in the magazine.

Bender is to be charged with Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Resisting Arrest. Andrew Bender is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
