At about 11:36 AM on Friday, March 11, 2022, Officers Assigned to District E-5 (West Roxbury/Roslindale) made an on-site drug and firearm arrest of Drequan Jones, 25, of Norwood, following a traffic stop in the area of t 4728 Washington Street, West Roxbury.

Officers were conducting Directed patrol in the area of Washington Street and Tobin Street when they observed a vehicle traveling 40 to 50 miles per hour in a 30 mile per hour Zone.  Officers conducted a traffic stop at the above location.  Officers made observations before exiting their cruiser that the passenger, later identified as Jones, made several furtive movements inside the vehicle as if to conceal an item.  Officers approached the vehicle and spoke with the operator of the vehicle.

Officers continued to make observations of Jones, who appeared nervous and was visibly shaking.  When additional units arrived on the scene, Jones was asked to exit the vehicle, and upon conducting a pat frisk, officers recovered a loaded firearm.  An additional frisk of the vehicle revealed marijuana packaged for distribution, and Jones was placed into custody without incident.

Jones is to be charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class D (Marijuana). The operator was issued a traffic citation and released without incident. Drequan Jones is expected to be arraigned in West Roxbury District Court.
